St Aloysius College Management and Members of St Aloysius College Alumni Association (SACAA) Hosted the 16th JAAI – South Zone Alumni Congress ‘Karavali Milana’ at St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru on 27th and 28th May 2022.

The objective of the Congress ‘ Karavali Milana’ was ‘Accompanying Youth in the Creation of a Hope Filled Future’ and with this prime focus the Congress was inaugurated on 27 May 2022. The Provincial of Karnataka Rev Fr Dionysius Vaz SJ as the Chief Guest and the Rector of St Aloysius Institutions Rev Fr Melwin Pinto SJ as the Pesident inaugurated Karavali Milana. The inaugural was attended by the President of the Jesuit Alumni Association of India (JAAI) CA Chenthil Kumar, the Karnataka Province Coordinator Alumni, Rev Fr Sweebert D’Silva SJ, the President of South Zone Jesuit Alumni Association of India (JAAI) Mr Krishna Reddy, Principal of St Aloysius College and Director of SACAA Rev Dr Praveen Martis SJ, the President SACAA Mr Stephen Pinto, the Organishing Secretary Mr Michael D’Souza, the Convener Dr Richard Gonsalves and the Alumni from five provices. Rev Fr Dionasius Vaz SJ carried out the book release marking the Ignatian Year authored by Prof Edmund Frank. Addressing the gathering Rev Fr Dionysius Vaz SJ said “It is the deep desire of Jesuit institutions to present to the world and our nation, men and women who think intensively and critically and who have hearts burning with genuine love and concern for others”. He continued by saying “Our alumni will be like salt, like leaven – who will take their place at the heart of the world, at the epicenter of the storm, in the thick of the battle, on the frontiers of every conflict, at the crossroads of ideologies’. Mr MV Nair the Eminent Aloysian Awardee 2022 shared his thoughts, insights and importance on ‘The role of alumni in promoting entrepreneurship among youth-start ups-incubation’. The programme on 27 May 2022 was ended with a fellowship dinner at Aloysius College, AIMIT Campus, at Beeri . The second session on ‘Engaging the youth in sustainable development’ was conducted by Dr G Srinikethan. Resource person for the third session, Mrs Brinda Adige addressed the topic on ‘Gender sensitivity, families and me’. The Governing Council Members of JAAI –South Zone, held a meeting and Dr Richard Gonsalves was elected as the President, Mr D Ramesh as the Vice President, Mr Thomas as the Secretary, Mr Ramprakash as Joint Secretary and Mr Mani as the Treasurer for the South Zone- JAAI for the next term that is year 2022 to year 2025. The event ended with a Valedictory Function was presided by the President of Jesuit Alumni Association of India (JAAI) CA Chenthil Kumar as the Chief Guest and the Rector of St Aloysius Institutions and Patron of SACAA Rev Fr Melwin Pinto SJ was the President. The President of SACAA Mr Stephen Pinto welcomed the gathering by introducing the dignitaries on the dias. The secretary of SACAA Mr Naveen Mascarenhas rendered the Vote of Thanks.
